Michael Francis Tuman was born in 1963 and grew up on the South Side of Chicago. In 1982 he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He attended the Defense Language Institute for Czech and Russian. Mike deployed overseas as the result of Presidential call ups five times. Mike was the first commander for the reactivated C Company 337th MI Bn. He was also on the Army Staff as an Intelligence Officer for OCAR. Mike was promoted to rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5. CW5 Tuman retired in 2021 with 38 years of service.
In 1990 Mike joined the Chicago Police Department working South Side and West Side districts until he was promoted to Detective in 1996. He worked the city-wide auto theft Unit until it was disbanded. Mike transferred to Area 4 where he worked homicide and other investigations. In 2003 he transferred to Area 3 where, he primarily conducted child abuse and domestic investigations. In 2017 Det Tuman retired with 27 years of service.
